The site uses a feature-rich editor for entering your blog postings, message board topics, and comments.
With this editor you can format your text similar to how Microsoft Word allows you to format your text.
The figure below shows a screen shot of the Rich Text editor.
The Rich Text editor is certified to work in Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Mozilla FireFox 3.0
or higher. As of the date of this document, the Safari browser does not support rich text editing.
For Macintosh users, we recommend you use Mozilla FireFox 3.0.
Below is a detailed description of each feature displayed on the Rich Text editor.
- Bold Text. Highlight the text you want to bold and click the 'B' button on the Rich Text editor.
You can also bold text by highlighting the text and pressing the control-B button. (CTRL-b).
- Italic Text. Highlight the text you want to make italic and click the 'I' button on the Rich Text
editor. You can also make the text italic by highlighting the text and pressing the control-I button.
(CTRL-i).
- Underline Text. Highlight the text you want to underline and click the 'U' button on the Rich Text
editor. You can also underline the text by highlighting the text and pressing the control-U button.
(CTRL-u).
- The align buttons. Clicking the align buttons (denoted by horizontal lines) will align your text in
the various positions. Hover your mouse over the button and the title of the button will appear. You
have the ability to left-justify, center, right-justify, and justify-full your text.
- Horizontal Rule. Click this button (one horizontal line button) will put a solid horizontal line
in your text.
- Numeric Ordered List. Clicking this button (contains the numbers 1,2,3) will allow you enter
numbered items in your text.
- Unordered List. Clicking this button (contains three dots) will allow you to enter bulleted items
in your text.
- Outdent and Indent buttons. Clicking these buttons (arrow left and arrow right) will indent and
outdent your text.
- Text Color button. Click this button (the letter A with an underline under it) will popup a
color palette. Click on the color that you want to make your text. Click the button again to
close the color palette.
- Background Color button. Click this button (a paint can with a yellow line under it) will
popup a color palette. Click the color that you want to make the background of your text.
Click the button again to close the color palette.
- Insert Link button. To create a link to another web page, highlight the text that you want to
be linked, and click the link button (a world icon with a chain link underneath it). A window
will display asking you to enter the URL of the website. Enter the URL and click the OK button.
Clicking this button will do nothing if you don't highlight the text first.
- Add Image button. To embed an image within your text, click the Add Image button (a tree icon).
A window will display asking you to enter the URL where the image resides. Enter the URL and click the
OK button. You can also add images to your text by uploading the image to the site.

- Insert Table button. This button allows you to create a table within your text. This feature is
similar to how Microsoft Word functions regarding tables. Click the table button (contains a blue bar
at the top and little white squares). A window will display asking you to enter the various properties
of your table, such as how many rows and columns to create for the table, the width of the table, etc.
Fill in the properties and click the Insert Table button. Your table will be inserted into your
text. You can then begin enter the data in the various rows and columns. Click on the border of the
table to adjust the size of columns, etc.
- Undo button. This button (curved left arrow) will undo the last action. You can accomplish the
same thing by pressing the control-Z button (CTRL-Z).
- Redo button. This button (curved right arrow) will redo the last undone action. You can
accomplish the same thing by pressing the control-Z button (CTRL-Y).
- Insert Smiley's. Click on the various smiley buttons to add them to your text.

Behind the scenes, the site is creating the necessary HTML coding to accomplish your formatting requests.
To view the HTML coding, click the View Source checkbox located at the bottom-left of the
Rich Text editor. You can change the HTML coding. Be careful. If you don't know what you are doing,
you can drastically affect the display of the page. No client-side scripting will be accepted.
