Share Your Photos

You can upload and share your photos with everyone on the site. We designed our photo section to make it as simple as possible for you to contribute your photos to the site -- allowing you to upload multiple photos at once in the format that comes directly from your digital camera. You snap the pictures and our site will upload and resize your photos for you.

You have to transfer the photos from your digital camera to your computer. How to transfer files from your digital camera to your computer is beyond the scope of this document. It is assumed that you can transfer the photos from your digital camera to your computer. Remember the location on your hard drive where you saved your photos from your digital camera because you will need to select the photos from this location when you are uploading them to the site. Do not resize your photos. Our site will resize them for you.

To upload your photos, do the following:

  1. Click on the Your Page link.
  2. Click on the Upload Photos link.
  3. A Photo Applet will be displayed showing Browse, Remove All, and Remove Selected buttons. For more information on the Photo Applet, including how to upload multiple photos in one transaction, see the Photo Applet page.
    1. The Photo Applet requires that you have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 6 or higher installed on your machine. If you don't see the Photo Applet, you cannot go any further until you install Java on your machine. See the Installing the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) page to learn how to install Java.
  4. Click the Browse button within the Photo Applet. A file browse window is displayed which shows the files and folders on your machine. Locate the folder where you transferred your photos from your digital camera. Select all the photos that you want to upload and click the Open button. The photos are listed in the table within the Photo Applet. See the Photo Applet page to learn how to select multiple photos.
  5. Click the Upload button within the Photo Applet to upload your photos to the site. The progress bar will move as your photos are resized and uploaded to the site.
  6. After all of your photos are uploaded, the site will display your newly uploaded files. The file name of the photo becomes the default name assigned to the photo on the site. For each photo that you uploaded, you can change the name of the photo, provide a description, select an existing photo album to place the photo in, and assign the access rights of the photo.
    1. See the Access Rights to Photo page for more information on controlling who can view your photos.
    2. See the Photo Albums page for more information on how to organize your photos within photo albums.
  7. When you have finished changing all the photos, click the Save this Batch button to save your photos to the site.
